This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! Welcome to my 4/5 grade class. My name is Mrs. K. and I am a brand new teacher at our school! I am responsible for 35 lovable, poverty-stricken, academically challenged, and extremely active boys and girls. My school is a part of a district that serves Title I students who receive free breakfast as well as lunch.
The students enter into my classroom with a desire to learn and interact with their peers.
As students are being introduced to new material, they require extension activities that reinforce learning. When students grasp an understanding of the material being taught, they become active explorers. Students begin to formulate higher order thinking questions consisting of who, what, when, where and why. Students also begin to think of solutions that are out of the box to demonstrate growth academically and well as personally.
My Project
Math is a very exciting and intriguing subject that helps to build a strong foundation in life. Without a sense of math, students will be unable to succeed in life. Without a sense of math, students will become handicapped and began to rely on others.
Therefore, the materials listed in my project will serve as a visual representation for mathematical problems.
For example, the place value trains would be used for students that need a visual to represent the value of a number. The fraction tower and activity set would be used to reinforce lessons tailored to fractions and also assist students that are ready for higher grade level activities.
