Hands-On Learning for 2nd Graders

Help me give my students headphones and materials to help them explore hands-on science and math learning!

My Project

My students are extremely creative and love to learn through exploration! My students come from low-income households and are excited to learn new things here at school. When learning new material in the classroom, my students gain much more from their learning when they get the chance to see hands-on, the effects of their own choices. For example, using play money to calculate and buy items. My students would benefit from having their own set of headphones in order to hear audio directions and video clips in our online learning on Seesaw, a platform designed for young students to engage in explorative forms of learning engagement.

My students are gifted and deserve to learn in the ways that are most beneficial to them!

In this case, this means learning by DOING! Instead of filling out worksheets, my students prefer to learn through action and make adjustments as they go. For example, my students enjoy building structures with Legos in order to engage with and notice patterns as they take form. By exploring through these hands-on learning experiences, my students practice making observations and adjusting their methods just like modern day scientists out in the field or in the laboratory.

Help give my students the resources they need in order to build their own math and science knowledge. They truly deserve it!
