When these materials arrived in the classroom, every child was so curious and excited! They all gathered around the board and wanted to explore immediately \r\n\r\nWe use these new material everyday in variety settings such as one on one setting, small group setting and large group setting. For example, at circle time, I bring the magnetic board in front of all the toddlers who sit on the rug, and we start the daily routine of our circle time. Firstly, we take 3-5 deep breaths and sing a song about who's here today and good morning song, then we start singing the alphabet song. Prior to your donation, we just clapped hands and sang the alphabet song blindly. With your generous donation of the new materials, the toddlers now are able to learn the alphabet visually by observing me pointing at each letter while singing the ABC song at the same time. After singing the alphabet song, the toddlers read each letter together by repeating after me as I point at each letter that is being read. We are also learning the first letter of each student's first name. For example, while I point at or hold the letter \"A\" and ask the whole group, \"Whose name starts with the letter 'A'?\"\r\n\r\nMoreover, we study the numbers after learning the alphabet at circle time. Same as learning the letters, the toddlers watching me pointing at each of the number and count it aloud from 1-10. One of the toddler is already able to put the number \"1\" and \"0\" together and says, \"Number 10!\"\r\n\r\nAs you can see, your kind and generous donation have made significant positive impact on our wonderful toddlers' learning. \"Thank you thank you my heart singing\".","fullyFundedDate":1754076407048,"projectUrl":"project/a-fun-way-to-learn-alphabet-and-numbers/9273051/","projectTitle":"A Fun Way to Learn Alphabet and Numbers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Xu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9997748"},{"teacherId":666970,"projectId":9519510,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity to Help Us Deliver Magazines That Spark Reading for All Abilities!, our classroom now receives 4 Scholastic Let's Find Out magazines each month. One proud moment was when a student receiving special education services used the stencils to trace letters and exclaimed, \"Look! I drew the letter!\" Their table mate said good job, and they beamed with joy!\r\n\r\nRight now, we're using the games and tools in small groups to build math, reading, and teamwork skills. They were especially excited to see the colorful bins and bulletin board materials, which immediately made the room feel welcoming and organized. Having fresh pencils, Post-its, and tissues on hand has already made a big difference—students no longer worry about not having what they need to learn, and they can focus their energy on their work.\r\n\r\nWe've already put the supplies to good use during reading and writing time. For example, students have been using Post-its to jot down connections and questions as they read, and they love sharing their ideas with classmates. The bins have helped us stay organized during group projects, making transitions smoother and keeping materials easy to find. These small changes have had a big impact on our daily routines, creating a calm, structured environment where students can thrive.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are set up for success as we continue building our classroom community. Our next steps include starting a long-term writing project, where students will use their supplies to brainstorm, draft, and share their stories. I'm so grateful for your support—it has truly transformed our space and given my students the tools they need to grow and succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1754076806730,"projectUrl":"project/fresh-start-full-heart-building-a-clas/9500301/","projectTitle":"Fresh Start, Full Heart: Building a Classroom From Scratch","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Maynard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp6047351_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1543701784666","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/maynardsf"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4490","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":187,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":54,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.3,"schoolId":4490,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr Charles Drew College Preparatory Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr Charles Drew College Preparatory Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-francisco-unified-school-district/dr-charles-drew-elementary-school/4490"}
