Hands on Learning, Better Focus... Kinders in Action!
Help me give my students the opportunity for more hands on learning, and alternative seating to support better focus. The art cart will replace 2 bulky wooden carts (20+ yrs old) with many broken shelves.
This year's class consists of twenty-three eager, active, and (mostly) engaged five and six-year olds. It is a group of Kindergartners who come with a variety of talents and special needs. Each year a new "crop" of kinders comes through my door and it is my challenge and privilege to guide them through their year. 11 of my 23 kids attended pre-school. So for over half my students, this is their first year in a learning environment. They require a lot of hands-on, active, and engaging activities. Over the years, the funding for classrooms has diminished, and I have not been able to replenish, or add to, the activities that best match the students interests and needs.
Also, I have many students who would benefit from different types of seating to help them best focus in learning situations (i.e.
wiggle cushions, wiggly chairs, etc...) A more mobile set-up in the classroom would also help in meeting the needs of whole group as well as small group learning.
Thank you for your consideration in donating materials to make our classroom engaging and beneficial for all our kinders.
All the items chosen were chosen with science, math, and creativity in mind. Blocks, STEM materials, and train set promote creativity and will help in science standards.
Math materials were chosen to help teach Kindergarten CCSS in math.
Specifically ten frame paddles will help with addition and subtraction standards. The balance scales will help with our measurement unit, as our classroom currently has just 1 scale for math centers.
The wiggle cushion and comfy seating will be used for kids who need alternative seating to be more focused.
The art cart will replace 2 bulky carts wooden carts that are housed in the hallway. Half the shelves don't pull out. The new cart is mobile and can be brought in the classroom, which will aid in supervision.
Thank you for considering to donate to our classroom and helping to inspire Kinders to be Actively Engaged!!
