Help me give my students hands on materials. ScoopABug Sorting provides manipulative for addition lessons, the Leveled books supply books in the home to teach WH questions, and journals for sight word and handwriting practice in one activity.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a teacher of students with severe disabilities in an economically disadvantaged area. My students have autism and other developmental disabilities. Remote learning has been challenging for my students. They are typically hands on learners who need to experience learning in a multi-sensory way. They learn best from hands on materials that they can manipulate and explore.
My students are curious about the world around them but need instruction to be delivered in non conventional ways.
The challenges of remote learning only make this harder. Parents express their frustrations of not being able to fully engage their children in online learning stating that hands on activities are more effective.
Providing lessons that are goal specific to the students is also so important. They are all working on a functional academic curriculum and their needs are each different. Everyday we celebrate our students' accomplishments everyday, no matter how small. There is nothing better then a smile and glance from a student to brighten any day!
My Project
Please help me give my students learning materials that they can use at home. Due to the pandemic students are now learning at home with limited resources. These materials will support both the teacher and the student. Some materials can be used for group lessons while other materials can be used with one to one lessons.
All these materials will allow for hands on learning making it not only more fun and engaging but specific to each of their unique needs.
Materials were selected to support their IEP goals and learning. These materials will be mailed directly to their homes.
