Help me give my students a variety of hands-on speech and language learning materials to help my students increase their language and communication skills needed to succeed in school.
I am a speech-language pathologist who currently provides direct services to over 60 students in three inner-city schools in Bridgeport, CT. My students have a variety of disabilities including autism, intellectual delays, fluency disorders, as well as a wide variety of speech and language disorders that impact their success in school. I service both regular education students as well as self-contained special education classrooms.
My students are all special learners with a variety of needs who need special support to succeed and learn.
My Project
My students learn best with hands-on activities and materials. In order to enhance their functional receptive and expressive language and communication skills needed to be effective learners and communicators, I am requesting a variety of hands-on therapy materials that work on receptive and expressive language skills, such as categorizing, describing, and sequencing. The materials will provide endless learning opportunities as well as work on turn taking and social interactions. These materials will be very motivating for my students. They learn best by touching and seeing. These games and materials will allow them to have fun while learning new language concepts and skills needed to succeed in the classroom.
