I teach at a school in a small, rural community. It is a very close-knit community. We have excellent students that are always willing to help. My students are entering Kindergarten. They come to school excited and eager to learn! The students enter Kindergarten at a variety of levels, depending on their previous experiences and backgrounds.
I want all of my students to begin their educational experience with an engaging and positive environment.
If I can give them a positive experience in Kindergarten, then hopefully, they will continue to have a successful educational journey.
My Project
I am moving to Kindergarten after teaching 2nd Grade for 16 years. Due to an increase in enrollment, we have had to add another Kindergarten class, so supplies for centers are limited. Kindergarten students need lots of hands-on learning. The activities and manipulatives will allow students to work productively in centers while I teach a small group.
Students will be more engaged in their learning using manipulatives and hands-on activities during centers.
My hope is that the students will develop more critical thinking skills with the Design and Build Engineering Centers. Students will work on alphabet skills, word building, and rhyming with the literacy centers. They will work on sorting, counting, adding, and building shapes using the math centers.
