My students need a butterfly classroom kit with live caterpillars, food, and housing for the butterflies which will enable them to experience the life cycle of a butterfly.
I have a very sweet, hardworking group of children. They live in a rural area and come to school with very limited experiences. They are eager to learn, and learn best through hands on concrete experiences.
There are 23 children in my classroom from diverse backgrounds.
They work well together and are very curious about the world around them.
We have very limited science materials at our school and often learn through textbooks and virtual experiences. I would love for my children to have a hands on experience to witness the life cycle of a butterfly.
My Project
The students in my classroom have very limited experiences. We do not have many materials for science, however they are very interested and excited to learn about their natural environment.
This experience will allow the students to see the life cycle of a butterfly and will promote learning in a hands on fashion as they feed and care for their butterfly.
After raising our butterflies, I plan on having a day to release them.
The children would be engaged with an authentic, meaningful, learning experience. I plan on allowing days for research on how to care for the butterflies. We will create observation journals and utilize our reading and research skills as we discover the proper way to care for our butterflies.
