The students in my classroom have very limited experiences. We do not have many materials for science, however they are very interested and excited to learn about their natural environment. This experience will allow the students to see the life cycle of a butterfly and will promote learning in a hands on fashion as they feed and care for their butterfly. After raising our butterflies, I plan on having a day to release them. The children would be engaged with an authentic, meaningful, learning experience. I plan on allowing days for research on how to care for the butterflies. We will create observation journals and utilize our reading and research skills as we discover the proper way to care for our butterflies.
