I am a Kindergarten Teacher at PS 46 Edward C. Blum in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn, NY. Our school is 13% ESL and 95% of our students receive free lunch. In Kindergarten, Learning Centers are an integral part of our curriculum. They provide the children an opportunity to improve fine motor skills, be creative, and learn to communicate. Having a Play-Do station would not only allow the students to meet these standards, but would provide the opportunity to integrate literacy as well. Having this opportunity would allow our imaginations to soar! We would be taking a hands-on approach to literacy and building valuable experiences that will set the stage for the rest of our lives.
