Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are growing learners who need additional support to spark and ignite their curiosity and love of learning. Some have struggled within a typical classroom model all of their educational careers. Many of my students face difficulties not just at school, but at home as well. At my school, all students participate in the "free or reduced price lunch" program. Our team of teachers strive to provide for the needs of all students, by implementing engaging hands-on projects, innovative teaching techniques, instructional technologies, and helping to meet other vital needs, such as food and beverages.
My students have the potential to be the agents of change our community needs in order to thrive.
However, we need to continue to challenge and enrich their learning environment, whether this be through innovative classroom practices or through providing necessary sustenance to keep them focused and energized. All my students are special, with unique and specific needs. Securing resources and materials to help them learn or stave off hunger and sleepiness, will ensure that they have the warm, welcoming, and engaging learning environment they deserve.
My Project
History can sometimes be distant for students to fully understand and grasp. Exposure to historical content through textbooks and other traditional means can be quite limiting, leading to disengagement. Students need to fully immerse themselves with the history they are learning, through hands-on projects and other creative means.
By donating fabric, clay, paint, and other crafting materials to create historical recreations, such as costumes, dioramas, and displays to this project, you ensure that my students will have a greater opportunity to learn historical facts and concepts, all while having fun with creative and tactile projects.
My students will be able to bring history to life, by creating recreations of different historical events, cultures, peoples, and so much more!
