This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher working with students in grades three through five. Some of my students have an identified specific learning disability in written expression and also qualify for occupational therapy to improve handwriting, letter formation, spacing between words, and the placement of letters on the writing line. Therapy tools such as squeeze balls and bands help students build the hand strength they need to become fluent writers. The products that I have chosen will help my students build strength in their fingers and hands. Many students who receive occupational therapy services have weaknesses in core strength. Students lack the muscle strength that keeps them sitting upright and tall. Flexible seating can help students to have the proper posture needed to build writing fluency.
