Help me give my students Hand 2 Mind learning to support growing minds. VersaTiles are perfect to help my students build math proficiency in a challenging yet purposeful way.
The students served at this school are from a remote, rural, and low income area. Although there are limited educational resources in the surrounding area my goal is to ensure opportunities for each student to have multiple hands-on experiences and a variety of resources in order to maximize their learning. Currently, 100% of our student population qualifies for free breakfast and lunch and we are a Title I school.
Even though we live in a remote, rural, and low income area; students can still LEARN and rise up to any challenge that comes their way!
In order to motivate students to take ownership of their own learning, I want learning to be fun and easy. To be successful students they need a variety of good experiences and resources to reinforce skills and to capture their attention.
My Project
I aim to close the achievement gap in math by implementing VersaTiles into small groups, math centers, and use for student independent practice. Students are more interested and engaged in math when they can see it, touch it, feel it, and build it. VersaTiles will be used by students to answer questions, they will flip and check, open and self-correct, and then match.
HAND 2 MIND is hands-on learning for growing minds and the key to help students construct their own models for mathematical ideas.
By building foundational skills in math students are moving from representational ideas to abstract mathematical thinking.
Active learners thrive off of much needed hands-on math practice. Hand 2 Mind will help me teach and reinforce math strategies and skills. Let's make math easier to understand and maybe a little FUN at the same time!
