My Project

This gymnastic wedge mat will be another important component of learning new movements. These past couple of years, we were not able to participate in a gymnastic unit because of the limited equipment we have. This unit is a major aspect that contributes to balance, flexibility, and strength. All of these attributes provide the necessary elements for moving in different ways. The wedge mat gives my students the opportunity to partake in forward rolls and pencil rolls as well. In addition, it is fun for all students to roll down a mat.

My goal for this project is to have students explore different aspects of movements.

It is essential for my students to learn a variety of activities that can contribute to moving. In gymnastics, there is balancing which is an important concept for my students to learn how to control their body while moving. In addition, flexibility is another learning concept for my students in which lengthening their range of motion prevents injuries. Furthermore, it can be enjoyable and relaxing as well to work on flexibility. With a wedge mat, this can be possible and it provides my students with various sets of activities for moving.

My students will be able to learn that moving can be fun by doing different movements. Many of my students have been asking about a gymnastics unit too and to provide a unit like this would mean a lot to them. In many of my lessons, students are doing cartwheels and rolls, so if we can put a gymnastic unit together where they can use the wedge mat it will be even more exciting for them.
