Guitars For Our At-Risk School Music Program

My students need 9 more guitars, 2 gig bags, and acoustic strings for our after-school Little Kids Rock music enrichment program.

My Students

These kids come from some pretty rough backgrounds. Our school is an at-risk, low-income school and the kids are almost exclusively minority, single-parent kids. Some even come to us from rehab centers and homeless shelters.

If it weren't for our after-school Little Kids Rock music program, these kids most likely would not be exposed to music in any way.

Their families don't have resources for instruments or lessons. In our program, these kids are learning basic music theory, as well as how to play multiple instruments, compose and perform music, and express themselves in a beautiful way.

My Project

We are requesting more guitars. Simply put, more guitars in our program allows us to service more kids. We can open up more classes and expand our program to service more of these kids. Students are able to keep the guitar for the year, taking lessons at school and practicing on the instrument at home.

This project is important because our after-school music program is the only exposure to music that these kids are getting in their elementary years.

They are learning to compose, perform, and express themselves in a wonderful way.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
