Guiding the Leaders of Tomorrow Through the Stories of Today
Help me give my students a better understanding of the world around them and how they can make an impact. I also want them to learn and be inspired by the stories of others.
I love helping my students discover the leader inside of them. This year I enjoy seeing their faces (even in masks) in-person. Watching them walk down the hallway and hearing their greeting or seeing their eyes wrinkle as they walk in to my room gives me a sense of peace and joy.
I enjoy listening to their perspectives on the world around them and trying to help them navigate through life, especially during a pandemic, to see that many opportunities are still available to them, even though they may look a little different.
My Project
The materials I am purchasing for my students will help them develop the leader within them. Through the variety of literature and nonfiction magazines, I hope to inspire my students to make a difference for the people around them and to be inspired to be the best version of themselves. As an ELA and Leadership elective teacher, I believe it is important for students to read stories about current events and struggles.
It is only giving students the opportunity to read about and ask questions pertaining to what is happening around them, can they truly begin to aspire to be a leader within their community.
It is my hope that when my students leave my classroom, they walk out a better person and more inspired community member.
