Help me give my students appropriate leveled non-fiction and fiction text so they can continue to learn about new subjects using fun and intriguing stories!
My students in Malden are part of the Pathways program. This program provides support to students with emotional and behavioral disorders through a special educator, paraprofessional, school counselors and more.
These students are inquisitive, creative and thrive to be successful.
Many of my students do not have a full library of books to read at home and rely on their classroom library for books. My students enjoy reading in my classroom and I would love to continue to provide them with their favorite series to maintain their passion for reading!
My Project
These books will continue to enhance our learning by providing an interesting way to gather information on real-life events that have occurred. Additionally, it will allow us to complete more guided reading as a group using the printed text as well as the audio guide. This gives students the opportunity to read aloud, read independently, listen to their teacher read and hear the text being read through the audio guide. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school and I have given a reading interest survey to see what series my students are interested in reading.
Students will be able to choose books they are excited about, which will help them continue to enjoy both independent reading and guided reading!
The best way to increase reading ability is by choosing books that students are engaged and passionate about. These books are sure to pique their interest which will ultimately foster their love of reading!
