Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school added a book vending machine two years ago and it is an absolute hit with the students. I am requesting high-interest books to fill the machine with, including some of the novels students read in class. When students show growth on a state practice test, we reward them with a token to buy a book from the machine. We are also giving students a token for having high reading level growth. We fill the machine with social-emotional books, journals, manga, high-interest novels, and more.

Your donation will help fill up our book vending machine and keep our reading initiative going!

We had 319 students earn a book token on this last round of growth checks and we anticipate sustaining this number every time we do a growth check (about 6 times a year).
