Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students live in a low socio economic environment. Many of them speak English as a second language. All of them enjoy coming to school. Many of my students live in apartments and therefore don't have opportunities to do much gardening.
I want to give them a new experience and let them get their hands dirty in our class garden.
By letting the kids fill the pots with dirt and plant their own tomato seeds, they will get to see the plants grow and become large plants. They will have the opportunity to see how the flowers bloom and the bees pollinate the plants. At the end, they will get to harvest their own tomatoes and enjoy eating them.
