This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Through gardening, students learn about nutrition, scientific principles, and also connect to the environment. Many of them come from low income families that have never left our town or grown their own garden. Allowing them opportunities to grow their own food will provide them with resources for the future. Gardening is a life skill they can use inside and outside of the classroom and we can incorporate science, math, and life skills while also practicing their physical and occupational goals. These garden beds and gardening supplies will help our entire school have the opportunity to put their knowledge of plants into action with a community garden right outside!
