This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our classroom is a place where so many wonderful things happen. These little people are given a chance to explore their curiosity and develop their relationships with each other and the academic world. My students come to school on the first day of school, sometimes not being able to recognize their own name. Then throughout the year, they explore so much and work so hard to achieve the most amazing growth.

Every day they remind me of how special my job is and how absolutely honored I am to be guiding them on their first academic adventure.

Their kindness and acceptance of each other and their eagerness and excitement for learning is the fuel of our classroom.

My Project

My students' favorite part of the day is gathering to hear a book read aloud to them. During this time they grow their love for reading and learning. They attend to a book that is entertaining and their cognitive abilities are ignited by the underlying themes in the literature read. These books are ones that have situations that are very real to them which makes them easy to relate to. They are able to discuss these situations with peers to enhance their language and social skills.

I have more opportunities to read aloud these quality texts, and I have the students thirsty for the knowledge and excited for the experiences, all I need are the books to add to our classroom library!
