Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students live in a low socio-economic environment. Many of them speak English as a second language. All of them enjoy coming to school. We will be learning about life cycles this year and I've been trying to figure out how to grow something on our play yard which we share with 5 other classes.
Having a raised garden bed on wheels would allow me to teach my students about growing plants and the plant life cycle while also being able to bring the "garden" in for safety.
We want the children to be able to play with balls outside, but I don't want our garden to get hurt in the process. With the garden on wheels, we can keep it protected. Also, with it raised, it will be easier for the kids to get an up-close look at what is happening. I think strawberries will be fun for the kids because they are tasty to eat. I also want to be able to read to the children about the strawberry life cycle so the book I'm asking for will help give the kids an easy way to learn about the life cycle as well.
