Help me give my students new books and headphones that will help them increase their Lexile levels and comprehension skills on Accelerated Reader and independently participate in I-Ready lesson on-line .
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
PES is located in Fulton County, Georgia. It is part of the Fulton Public Schools System. It is a Title I school. Over 60% of our students struggle with reading comprehension.
The primary goal of my school is to continue to decrease the number of students struggling academically and increase the number of students performing on and above grade level.
The instructional focus is to plan an instructional program to meet and/or exceed the needs of each scholar as well as foster an environment that will holistically enhance and inspire the scholar’s artistic and academic potential. Furthermore, we work diligently to accomplish this goal by providing each scholar with experiences of success and accomplishments which will aid students in developing a positive self-concept and desire to achieve.
My Project
These programs allow students to strengthen their comprehension skills and track their respective Lexile levels. The books will be used to provide students with reading material to complete tests on Accelerated Reader, to build fluency, promote fruitful discussions, and increase Lexile levels. The headphones will allow students to work independently from a laptop on the I-Ready Program to practice/enhance comprehension skills and increase Lexile levels as well.
The teacher will determine the effectiveness of this project by reviewing students’ I-Ready data (beginning, mid-year, end of the year) and analyzing their Accelerated Reader scores to progress monitor and track students’ growth.
