The problem addressed in this study is that the collective of strategies used previously in the school district has not produced the results necessary to decrease the number of students struggling with reading in the fifth grade where traditional teaching methods were employed. The purpose of this project is to give students an intuitive way to learn and enhance their reading comprehension to strengthen their ability to make connections, create/complete performance-based tasks using strategies learned novel-based instruction and Literacy Circles.
