I am a fourth-grade teacher in a high poverty elementary school in southern Delaware. I have both regular education and special education students in my classroom. I love teaching fourth grade! Fourth graders are enthusiastic about learning and becoming independent individuals. My students are so passionate about learning and work so hard to overcome their daily challenges from home and school. I am always looking for ways to continue to challenge my students and better prepare them for fifth grade.
Teaching students to love reading is something I hold in high importance as an educator. I want my students to be able to connect with characters in a book and understand how events can change them as a person. Not only do I want them to connect with the characters in the book but, I want them to enjoy the journey of the story!
Crenshaw is a book that is not just entertaining but magical!
Students will enjoy reading about the challenges the family faces and some may even relate to some of the struggles. They will fall in love with the magical piece of the story and the unforgettable friendship.
