My Students

"I finished the book!" Whenever one of my students blurt out this line it opens the floodgates of becoming a passionate reader. Students at my school are from diverse backgrounds and have a range of reading needs. The majority of students receive free or reduced-price lunch and are bilingual.

My students are striving readers who have faced many barriers to their reading success, but still come to school each day to continue their journey towards being college and career ready.

My Project

Comfortable seating in our reading classroom will support my students need for constant encouragement and support of their reading efforts.

Middle school students who struggle with reading require lots of extrinsic motivation to provide the gentle nudges they need to continue along their reading journeys.

Some of my struggling readers have lost hope that they can become better readers. I am asking for a bean bag chair and a balance chair. With these strategically chosen materials in the reading environment, along with high quality reading instruction, it is possible to reverse the negative effects that reading challenges have had on my students self esteem as well as to grow a middle school reader who has a love of reading.
