Growing Our Own Food in Our Microgreen Garden

Help me give my students a microgreen grow set, which will provide a hands-on opportunity to learn about the plant life cycle and the importance of healthy eating through growing our own food.

My Project

Our goal is to learn about the plant life cycle through growing our own microgreens. Students will develop leadership skills during the project by synergizing in collaborative groups to find successful ways to grow microgreens and strategies to use or learn from. Students will be able to share their knowledge with their peers, families, and communities.

The process of learning about the different components required to grow food will emphasize the importance of appreciating the food we eat daily.

Growing microgreens will become a life skill where students can deepen their understanding of sustainable ways to grow food. This project will be a continuance of the local and global issues we have learned about this year.

The items we need are the microgreen rack kit (includes, rack, lights, thermometer, and timer), growing trays, and split pea microgreen seeds. Each material is essential to a successful harvest.
