My Project

Currently, there are no gardens on our school grounds. Raised garden beds would allow kindergarten students to engage in growing their own seeds. Students will be gardening and caring for plants while learning the lifecycle of the plants and any of the numerous pollinators visiting the gardens.

This project would give students who live in apartments the chance to become growers, no longer being limited to available planting space.

It has been proven that students who participate in the growing of their own vegetables are more willing to taste the vegetables they grow.

Growing plants in the garden beds will allow students of differing abilities to participate successfully in the gardening experience. The new experience of growing plants can be documented in writing journals or could include a writing or art project connected to the gardening/growing experience.

We would also love to have a bird feeder to attach to our window so we could watch the birds come in and visit our window as they eat.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
