My Project

My kindergarten students are learning foundational math skills, and we approach this learning with care, encouragement, and a strong belief that every child can succeed. We use many different manipulatives to support understanding through hands-on, meaningful experiences that make math feel accessible and engaging. These concrete experiences help students build confidence step by step, while also developing a deeper and more lasting understanding of abstract math ideas that can sometimes feel challenging on their own. Having a variety of engaging manipulatives allows students to explore freely, problem-solve in creative ways, and make meaningful connections as they begin to see how math works in the world around them, all while taking an active role in their learning journey. When students can touch, build, move, and explore the math for themselves, they not only become more confident learners, but they also begin to take real pride and ownership in what they can do, celebrating their growth and feeling empowered as capable mathematicians.
