Help me give my students the supplies they need to create and grow a community garden outside of our classroom. Students will be fully responsible for the care and vegetables grown will be shared with the community.
My school just completed a year long renovation/addition in which the grounds around our building were stripped of all greenery. My students have expressed an interest in making our school beautiful again and I thought one way to do this would be through creating a community garden space!
Our School Community Garden would allow my students to grow vegetables that they can then enjoy with their families or donate to those in our community who may not have access to fresh vegetables.
My students will be responsible for preparing for planting, planting, maintaining and harvesting of vegetables to share among their families and community. While growing vegetables, they will also be cultivating a community of caring and citizenship.
