Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Early Childhood Special Education in a low-income area. My students range from ages three through five. My students learn best through play. They also are able to participate longer if they are allowed to move. We teach functional skills in our class as well as academics.

My Project

This project is geared towards teaching my students how to grow plants using hydroponics. With these funds, we will purchase two hydroponics systems, one for flowers and one for vegetables. We will prepare the system as needed and then sit back and watch them grow. We have had a project funded for container plants outside and my kids love that but with the recent winter weather, a lot of our plants are not doing well. This project will help teach them about growing plants inside and in a different way, hydroponics!
