Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My sixth grade students are learning important academic skills while also developing the social and emotional skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Many of my students face challenges outside of the classroom that can make it difficult to stay focused and positive throughout the day. This project will provide each student with a personal gratitude journal where they can reflect, celebrate successes, and develop a more positive mindset.

These journals will give students a safe space to write, reflect, and build habits that support emotional well-being, resilience, and a love of learning.

What We Need

A class set of gratitude journals, one for each and erasable pens for daily writing and reflection. Students will begin class with a five to ten minute reflection routine using their gratitude journals. They will write about people, experiences, and opportunities they are thankful for. Reflect on personal goals and accomplishments. Practice positive thinking and self reflection. Reset their mindset after challenging moments. Create a meaningful record of their growth throughout the school year. This daily routine will help students develop healthy habits that improve focus, emotional awareness, and classroom engagement.

These journals are more than notebooks. They are tools that encourage students to recognize their strengths, appreciate the positive moments in their lives, and build lifelong habits of reflection and gratitude.
