Our school has over 500 students of different backgrounds, ethnicities, languages, and learning styles. The students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions.
The students come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
Truly, they are my inspiration. Our goal with the Garden Project is to create an outdoor classroom to foster this love of learning for all students.
My Project
A school garden program will bring nature and agriculture to life on our campus. Children can learn about science, math, and nutrition through gardening experiences. Additionally, a school garden is an effective tool for promoting student learning and increasing community participation.
This school garden will benefit our students in many ways.
A school garden spices up normal classroom activities and lessons by creating a sensory learning lab. It exposes students to healthy lifestyle choices while encouraging healthy eating and activity habits. A garden promotes student bonding and teamwork and provides an outlet for student stress. It also encourages community participation with parent involvement.
