Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our First Lego League team, the TigerBots, is made up of about 25 incredible students, ages 7–13, from a Title 1 school where families work hard every day to support their children’s dreams. These students bring curiosity, creativity, and determination into every challenge they face. Many of them are experiencing robotics, engineering, and scientific exploration for the very first time—and they are already beginning to see themselves as problem-solvers and innovators.

This year’s upcoming theme, Bio Glow, opens the door to an exciting journey where students will explore botany and environmental science as the foundation for their research project.

With access to hands-on materials, they will begin studying plants, ecosystems, and natural processes this summer through our Robotics Club. This early exploration will help them think critically and creatively as they design a prototype robot aimed at addressing a real-world environmental challenge.

For our students, this experience is about more than robotics—it is about possibility. It is about giving them the chance to imagine futures they may not have previously seen for themselves and building confidence through discovery, teamwork, and innovation. Many of our students go on to do remarkable things after their time in our program, and we are eager to give this next group the same life-shaping opportunity. With your support, we can open that door and help them take their first steps toward becoming the scientists, engineers, and leaders of tomorrow.
