I have a classroom full of excited students who are learning the values of sustainable living. We are in a suburban part of Georgia and are a Title I school. A majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and we serve as the ESOL school for our cluster.
We are moving full STEAM ahead at learning how we can live sustainability to help our community.
We have been working very hard this year to create a school garden and now we would like to learn how to make our own compost to feed that garden.
We are delving into the project of setting up our own school garden. The Garden Tower 2 - The Composting 50 Plant Organic Container Garden will help my kindergartners learn and put into practice the art of gardening. Also, the Gardening Lab for Kids: 52 Fun Experiments to Learn, Grow, Harvest, Make, Play, and Enjoy Your Garden book will add some exciting projects to our garden learning environment.
We are moving full STEAM ahead by focusing on how to become more globally sustainable through the use of gardens.
My students have been integrating cross curricular skills that include math while measuring and graphing plant growth, writing while describing our gardening experiments, and technology while researching and making a video tour of our garden. Thank you for supporting us while on this great adventure into becoming more globally sustainable.
