Growing a Positive and Empowering Classroom Community
Help me give my students the opportunity to grow socially and mentally through the use of games, drawing materials, and resistance bands for our classroom chairs to reduce anxiety and stress.
Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." This beautiful quote truly supports my beliefs about the importance of developing a strong classroom community.
My school is a wonderful place that believes in growing children as thinkers, learners, and respectful citizens.
My new fourth graders may have mixed feelings of nervousness and excitement. I want my students to grow into a family that extends beyond the four concrete walls of our classroom.
My Project
A school isn't just a place filled with textbooks, pencils, and paper. A school is a place filled with children that are eager to learn and grow. I believe whole-heartedly that a teacher must develop a strong classroom community before any real learning can effectively take place.
I want my students to feel safe, loved, and valued so they can comfortably take risks in their learning.
To develop this type of closeness, my students need opportunities for play and talk. Right now, I am lacking the materials to facilitate this kind of learning in my classroom. These games, drawing supplies, building blocks, and chair bands will encourage teamwork, communication, stress relief, and critical thinking which are all very important life skills. Please consider helping us obtain these materials so I can help my students build self-esteem and strong relationships for our classroom to function as a family.
