My Project

Helping my student reach there goals throw learning with the outside in action within the gardening space to see how to grow and work with nature.

Will learn with hands on activities with planting and how much water goes into the pot to create a plant and watch them grow over the course of the year.

1. Start by creating a list of items needed to start a garden in the classroom. This can include pots, soil, seeds, gardening tools, watering cans, and fertilizer.

2. Reach out to local businesses, community organizations, and parents for donations or support. Explain the benefits of gardening for students with autism and how their contribution can make a difference in the classroom.

3. Set up a fundraising event or online campaign to raise money for the gardening project. Get students involved in the process by creating posters, flyers, or social media posts to spread the word and get the community involved.

4. Once you have gathered all the necessary items, involve the students in choosing what to plant in the garden. Consider their interests and preferences when selecting seeds or plants to cultivate.

5. Set up a schedule for watering, weeding, and caring for the garden. Assign responsibilities to each student so that they can take ownership of the project and develop important life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and patience.

6. Use the garden as a hands-on learning tool for teaching various subjects such as science, math, and language arts. Encourage students to observe the growth of plants, measure their height, record their observations, and write about their experiences.

By using the garden as a therapeutic and educational tool, you can create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with autism, helping them develop important skills and fostering their overall well-being.
