Help me give my students more hands-on opportunities to problem solve and explore the fields of STEM. The STEM Classroom Bundle, Digital Microscope, Coding and Solar Robots will inspire learning through a multitude of experiments and challenges.
My curious first grade students are an inspiration, and they are a constant reminder that we are surrounded by a world filled with wonder and opportunities. In our two classrooms, these 51 wonderful students come with a range of abilities, a variety of special needs and many live in low-income households.
These young learners are excited about learning new skills that could last a lifetime.
They are especially interested in hands-on experiences and learning through exploration. Our first grade team works together to offer all of these young people experiences that foster a love of learning and build confidence to try new things.
My Project
STEM Fridays have been an exciting time in our first grade classrooms! For several years now, my teaching partner and I have presented a variety of STEM lessons and challenges to our eager young students. It is inspiring to watch our the children work together to solve problems and explore new concepts. However, hands-on materials can be costly and supplies within the classroom are often limited.
With your support, students will not only have more hands-on opportunities to apply STEM skills and build curiosity to fuel their innovative spirit, but this will help us continue this exciting program for many years!
Our students will have access to a wider variety of STEM materials to learn about Force and Motion, Simple Machines, Magnets, and Buoyancy with the STEM Classroom Bundle. Then these concepts will be applied while completing engaging challenges within the Engineering and Design Kits, Magnetic Building Tiles, Straw Constructor Set, and Marble Run Sets. Students will also explore coding, technology, and solar energy with the Solar Robot Kit, the Inductive Robots, and the Botley Coding Robot and Accessory Set. Our Life Science lessons will be enhanced with the Handheld Digital Microscope that can be projected for students to observe everything from tiny bones in owl pellets to experiment findings or prepared slides. By engaging our youngest learners and giving them the opportunities they deserve to develop their STEM skills, we hope to support our students' natural curiosity and give them the courage to become innovative problem solvers.
