This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low-income area in the Kingsbridge sector in The Bronx. Our school is a fantastic school, composed of a variety students from different backgrounds. While the school has a great amount of resources, our classroom could use easels in order to encourage an environment for learning, which is up to the teachers to fulfill. Our students are hungry scholars, who would be thrilled to get the chance to have easels for group work in our classroom.

My Project

Recently we were given rolling desks to use in our classroom. While they are beautiful and professional-looking, they have taken away from my students being able to use tables to do their group work on charts. Sadly, they have been forced to find corners in the room to put them up on, and most of the time the chart paper falls or takes other posters down with it. The easels would make our community/group-learning classroom environment more conducive to the learning process, and will help my students to produce neater work. They would truly appreciate how much these items help.
