My Project

At NES, we serve anywhere between 20-35 students in our Special Needs Preschool department. These students are eligible to come to us the day they turn three and stay with us until the next school year when they are five years of age. Students who come to us in this program are developmentally behind in their language and communication, social-emotional, fine and gross motor, cognitive, and adaptive skills. In this program, we strive to give them the confidence they need to grow and bridge the gap between their weaknesses and the levels of same-aged peers. One of the ways we bridge the gap is by allowing them to have unstructured outdoor playtime.

However, students need equipment to climb, jump, play, scream, and be a kid.

This is where we need your help! By being a generous donor of your time, money, and love, you can give our students the opportunity to access the same learning skills and goals as same-aged peers. Our goal for this piece of equipment is to teach our students confidence in themselves by giving them the tools they need to believe that they can do hard things. We will use this to work on gross motor goals, as many of them have climbing step goals or strengthening goals. Climbing play equipment not only builds confidence but also strengthens their arms and legs. Climbing a rock wall would require our students to cross the midline meaning they are reaching across the middle of their body with their arms and legs which in return forces the left side of their brain to communicate with the right side of their brain which is crucial in developmental skills. Your gift could be the reason a child grows today or smiles today. We are so thankful for your consideration.
