Our students are part of a rural middle school campus in Southeast Texas. The middle school has about 550 incredible students. While our students have a great variety of interests and backgrounds, they all enjoy and benefit from hands on learning!
Due to Hurricane Harvey, our resilient students have experienced the loss of, not only their campus, but also their homes.
After being displaced for 6 weeks, our campus is back together in our portable Village. Students are excited and eager to recapture their lost learning adventures.
Students at HMS love to be creative. We are a 1:1 iPad school and our students enjoy using the iPads to create their own movies. Before Harvey, students were able to incorporate a green screen into their movie production, allowing them to be "anywhere in the world". While Harvey may have taken away the tools to do this with, it did not take away our students desire to film with green screen.
My Project
Students use iMovie on their iPads to create many curriculum related movies. They also enjoy producing their own movies with their peers.
With the Green Screen tools, student will be able to place themselves on location of their movie topic.
By having this capability, students can become more creative and actually learn more about their subject.
We had a green screen before Hurricane Harvey and our students loved incorporating it into their movies. But students are not the only ones who will use our new green screen. Teachers will also go through PD and will make their own movie with the green screen and learn how to incorporate this powerful tool into their curriculum.
