Students will become more knowledgable about the culture of the sixties. The students will read the novel "Hidden Figures" as part of their ELAR class but will discuss the events in the book within all their classes. This cross curricular unit of study will include the Arts, Science, Technology and History teachers as we work together helping students understand the past to better their future. Science classes will explore the role of NASA in the 60's. History classes will address Civil Rights. Tech classes will compare/contrast available technology. Art class will address fashion, music and the arts of the 60's! Students will get a very rounded education on the 60's. They will have a better understanding of the history of that time period. They will learn that all lives matter equally, that determination and hard work are worth the effort and that a team of people working together for one common goal can break all barriers.
