This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a group of curious and independent kindergarteners. They love to read stories that make them laugh, learn about animals, and play math games. As a teacher, I strive to create an environment that fosters a strong sense of self, independent thinking and a place where they can build character. I want my students to be able to ask questions, solve problems and think critically. Kindergarten is a wonderous year, in which our young friends move into more time spent exploring new ideas. With your help, we will be able to build an environment that supports their growing needs and brains.
My Project
My kindergarten students LOVE to be read to! Read aloud time is their favorite part of the day. I want to encourage great reading habits by giving them a center where they can listen to books. This gives them a great model for developing fluent reading and decoding skills!
I would love for them to start recognizing and developing these crucial skills early.
This sets them up for a lifetime of reading for enjoyment as well as giving them the comprehension and listening skills necessary for becoming successful learners! Please help me give the joy of reading to my students!
