My Students

My students deserve to have a well put together classroom! Being a first year teacher, straight out of college and hired in the middle of the school year has presented its challenges. One of them is the fact that my students do not have enough resources to expand their minds in the classroom.

I have 26 Kindergarten students.

The school in which they attend is in an extreme poverty area. The students face many difficult challenges in their home lives. School is the one thing that is constant in their lives. They have been through more than 2 teachers this year (lead and subs). They have gone through many changes that have shaken their routine. I am their new teacher, and I am here to stay! My students deserve to have new resources for them to feel at home in a classroom that has changed so much over the year.

My Project

My students are currently sitting on hard tile floor with duct tape strips on it. They need to have an established routine and having a classroom carpet would make them feel more at home in the classroom. It would give them the joy they need during their school day. All of the pocket charts will help my students succeed in their educational careers. The area in which they are from is an area in which not a lot of people succeed. These new materials will give students the resources to expand their minds and their knowledge.

This is extremely important to me.

I am a brand new teacher and I chose to go to a lower income school so I can serve and educate these students. They have already opened up my mind to so much already and I would love the opportunity to give back to them. The students often ask me when I am leaving because they are so used to teachers leaving. These materials will give the hope and joy to continue the rest of the school year with confidence.
