Our students come to us from a variety of ethnic cultures. We serve a population of students with over 30% coming from low-income socioeconomic backgrounds. Our middle school serves over 1200 students. My students include special needs, ESL, and 504 students with a variety of accommodations.
We are Texas strong and a community that sticks together and helps our fellow neighbors and friends.
Our students continually give back to the community through service learning projects. They work hard to provide food, clothing, and toys to those in need, to clean up our roads with trash pick up, and to perform music concerts for our local retirement home.
My Project
Please help me get my students the professional cookbooks to learn how to cook and bake. Our classes are set in a junior culinary school environment at the middle school level. I teach 7th and 8th graders the basics of cooking and baking. We learn knife skills, sanitation, and healthy cooking techniques in my classes.
Most classroom basic needs are for paper, pencils, and erasers, but our classroom basic needs are culinary equipment to learn the art of cooking and baking.
We need your help in getting updated cookbooks for students to learn to read about cooking and baking. They need physical cookbooks to research recipes and cooking techniques.
We are learning so much more than just cooking. The students are learning life skills on how to plan, prepare store, market and cook foods. The students grow in their abilities and in their confidence.
