My Students

Our students come to us from a variety of ethnic cultures. We serve a population of students with over 40% coming from low income socioeconomic backgrounds. Our middle school serves over 1200 students.

We are Texas Strong, and a community that sticks together and helps our fellow neighbors and friends.

Our students continually give back to the community through service learning projects. They work hard to provide food, clothing, and toys to those in need, to clean up our roads with trash pick up, and to perform music concerts for our local retirement home.

My Project

In our Intro to Culinary classes at the middle school level, we are learning to not only cook, but to clean up after ourselves. The students get messy in the classroom and we need your help to clean them up.

We use hand soap, dish soap, and laundry detergent to keep our kitchen clean and safe.

Over the course of a month, we use a lot of soap. The students are not only learning to cook, they are also learning to have safe cooking and clean practices to carry them into their adulthood.

The students take ownership over doing the classroom's laundry that consists of towels, washcloths, hats and aprons. As you an imagine, 150 students produce a lot of messes and a lot of laundry.

The students take pride in the cleaning of their kitchen and daily laundry responsibilities.
