Graphire Tablet to Unleash Smart Technology for Kinders
My students need a Graphire Wireless Pen Tablet to use Smart Board technology that connects my projector, document camera, computer, and children's learning together.
I teach all day Kindergarten in a low income urban community. My classroom is made of many colors and many ability levels, from special education to slightly above grade level.
This was the first year of all day Kindergarten at my school. With this came many challenges of expanding our day in the most meaningful and academically productive way that still keeps the children engaged. Last year, I received a digital projector and document camera to hook up to my computer. Newer schools in our district have Smart Boards, digital wipe boards, that enhance the use of technology, but I am not at one of those schools. I have found that this technology hooks my students into learning and allows them to expand their understanding and experience. They love watching videos about the animals that we just read about or showing off their writing on the projector.
Instead of getting a very expensive Smart Board, I can use a Graphire tablet with the computer, projector, and document camera in a similar way. Because it is Bluetooth enabled, I can wonder around the classroom and still be able to interact with the computer. Students can write on the tablet just like writing on a board and have it appear through our projector. This interaction will not only teach them how to use technology, but also expand their knowledge in all academic areas.
Your help will allow my students to learn through the use of amazingly fun technology. The majority of these families do not have computers at home. Many of the students have not had the experiences that our curriculum expects them to already have had. With the use of the tablet, we can interact with the computer in new and exciting ways that will allow every student to be successful!
