Our high school celebrates diversity. My students are hard working people from all different backgrounds and cultures. Some are working jobs outside of school to support their families. Many of them will be first generation college students.
My students want bright futures.
Some of them want to learn a trade. Others want to go to college and pursue a career. No matter what they decide to do they are passionate! These students absorb everything you give them. Like the city of Somerville, MA I am big on community. My classroom is a community of knowledge that is shared between my students and me. I want to provide any and every opportunity that I can get my hands-on.
My Project
This is my first year teaching and I have the honor of teaching AP Calculus AB. Most of my students cannot afford graphing calculators. With this classroom set I will have the opportunity to provide calculators during class so students can learn skills to earn credit on the AP exam. I will also be able to download programs onto the calculators so they can have visible representation of problems we do in class. I feel students need multiple resources to understand topics. Problems dealing with the antiderivative, area between two curves, and limits will have beautiful color displays to aide students on the TI-84 Plus CE calculators. These calculators would be such an asset to my classroom.
