Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I absolutely love Graphing Calculators, I think they make math, especially algebra, easier to learn and more fun! My students love technology and one day I borrowed a class set of graphing calculators from a 10th grade teacher and told my students that I had a huge surprise for them. I let them use the calculators for one day and they grew attached immediately. Unfortunately, that was at the very beginning of the school year and I still have not been able to borrow the calculators again. My students come from low-income areas and very rarely are given "educational surprises" they enjoy. If I can obtain a class set of graphing calculators for my three classes (approximately 80 students), I would be able to incorporate complex graphing lessons into my classes. Also, they will become more comfortable with the calculators they will be using for the SAT and Regents Exams. I teach three separate sections of Math A, each class consists of approximately 30 students. My goal is for each student to have a graphing calculator to use during class. It is inexcusable for students in the suburbs to become accustomed to learning with graphing calculators and my students in the city to be deprived. Please give me the opportunity to make their math class more exciting and stimulating!
