Help me give my students graphic novels to support their reading. My students this year are loving all of the new books coming out and I can't seem to have enough for their reading pleasure.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year teaching fifth grade in my school this year. Our school has about a quarter of our students on free and reduced price lunch. Only about 50% are meeting standards in reading and math according to greatschools.org. If we could increase the level of engagement by providing students with books that pique their interest, the scores would increase. I want my students to be excited about learning and would love to introduce more graphic novels and reading club books as a way to pique their interest in new topics and curriculum.
I am inspired by so many teachers from around the world who share amazing new books for their classroom libraries.
Most recently I have purchased a class set of Esperanza Rising and small group sets of Slacker, Louisiana's Way Home, and others. I have a lot of students who love reading graphic novels. I think they would love these!
I can't wait to see the students' smile when they see new books for the classroom library. Your help is greatly appreciated in making this happen. Thank you for taking the time to read our project. Please consider helping us by donating and/or sharing with friends!
My Project
Unfortunately, our school librarian is only able to order books a few times a year. My students are really excited about the new graphic novels that are coming out. The benefits of graphic novels are numerous!
I'd love to be able to get these books into their hands with the #filleveryshelf campaign.
Books like The Giver, Anne Frank, A Wrinkle in Time, Babysitters Club, and others are being written as graphic novels. Graphic novels allow students to make inferences, apply prior knowledge, increase vocabulary, and they motivate and engages youth in literacy development. I appreciate you taking the time to consider bringing these great books into our classroom library!
